在亚洲市场，今天是一个较为繁忙的交易日，新西兰、澳大利亚和日本释放了大量的经济数据。在新西兰，第四季度CPI数据略低于预期，实际值为季比下滑0.3%和年比上涨1.8%，预期中值分别为季比上涨0.4%和年比上涨2.6%。该项数据释放后，纽元兑美元立即大幅下跌了50个点，之后，由于交易时段仍在继续，该货币对继续下滑——使得纽元兑美元成为当天最大的输家。
相比之下，澳大利亚的劳工数据更加平衡。就业变化调查显示，新增就业人数大幅下滑，为-2.93万人（市场一直预期新增1万人），但奇怪的是，失业率意外下降，从5.3%降至5.2%。整天而言，市场认为这一数据不太利于澳元，致使澳元兑美元温和走跌，但跌幅不及纽元兑美元。

It’s been a busy Asian session today, with a number of economic releases out of New Zealand, Australia and Japan. In New Zealand, Q4 CPI came out much lower than expected at -0.3% QoQ, 1.8% YoY, compared to expectations of 0.4% QoQ, 2.6% YoY. This sent NZDUSD tumbling 50 pips lower immediately following the release, and the pair has continued to drift downwards as the session has progressed – leaving NZD as the biggest underperformer against the dollar today. In comparison, the Australian labour data was a little more balanced; there was a shock plunge in the employment change survey of -29.3k (markets had been looking for a positive +10.0k reading), but oddly, the unemployment rate unexpectedly dropped from 5.3% to 5.2%. Overall the market took this news as mildly AUD-negative, taking the pair slightly lower against the dollar but nowhere near the extent of the NZD’s fall.
Looking at the equity markets, it has been a broadly positive day for the Asian bourses. The Nikkei and Hang Seng are both up +1.0% on the day, with the Shanghai Composite managing an even better +1.3% at the time of writing.
Coming up in today’s session, we will get the latest Eurozone current account data for November, followed by a flood of US releases in the afternoon. The main highlights will be December CPI, housing starts, and building permits, as well as the latest jobless claims figures. FX markets will also remain alert to the progress of Greek negotiations with private sector bond holders; with reports in the FT today suggesting a deal is in the pipeline.
