Musicians of nature

As the dark approaches, the busyness of human civilization is coming to an end. But in a minuscule world, the day has just begun: across the wild of the entire continent, millions of musicians are preparing for a concert. This is the concert of nature. Every summer, they gather in the field just for these moments; every night, they play euphonic melodies to bring peace in the atmosphere. Among them there are violinists, pianists, violoncellists, drummers, etc. They use their God-given body instruments to perform symphonies that only our mother nature can compose.

But where are these musicians? They seem invisible, hiding in the wild, covered by the darkness. It seems like the music comes from nowhere. To find out the answer, I decide to visit these anonymous musicians.

7 pm in the evening, the sky is not yet completely dark. In my backyard, I hear a bunch of sizzling sounds. What in the world are making that noise? Oh! That must be the musicians rehearsing for tonight. I wait until 8 pm, when the concerts normally start. Listen! The performance has begun. I hear a pianist, swifting his fingers over the keys. He sounds so familiar! It must be Richard Clayderman playing his famous \"Ballade pour Adeline\". Here is another one. He is a violinist, smoothing the tip against the strings. He must be Andre Rieu, enjoying his favourite \"The Godfather\". Suddenly I hear a low and rich note, emitting from a tree. This must be a violoncellist. He is doing his best, handling his big old instrument to give his most outstanding performance of the night. In the background, I can hear drummers perfectly hitting the beats. But still, wandering in the dark, I cannot see where these musicians are and how they look like. I turn on the flash light, following the sound, try to pay an uninvited visit. Here he is! This must be the pianist! To my surprise, this tiny little creature is not even 1 cm long. This is a male Allard ground cricket (Allonemobius allardi). He lifts up his forewings, shakes them, in order to play \"the keys\". This is so amazing! Such a tiny little cricket can make a huge sound as if he is playing piano! Right by the pianist, I see the violinist. He is a fall field cricket (Gryllus pennsylvanicus), about 1.5 cm long, hiding beside a rock. His body is entirely black, just like musicians wearing black suits. His \"violin\" is made of black diamond, shining against the flash light. Again, he is shaking his forewings to perform his music. What a lovely melody of \"The God Father\"! But a moody tune of bass attracts my attention. I look up to the tree: it's our violoncellist- a green Snowy tree cricket (Oecanthus fultoni). He carries his huge mini violoncello on his back- two long and board forewings. Fortunately, this creature is talented enough to handle his heavy body instrument and add flavor to the summer night symphony...

Now I have met majority of the musicians in my backyard. I feel very glad and decide not to disturb them anymore. I sit on the bench, simply appreciating the music of nature. Still can't I believe that this beautiful orchestration is composed by tiny little bugs that the biggest of them does not even exceed 2 cm in length. This, is the power of nature. Only nature has the power to create such a wonder. But this is only the tip of an iceberg. Outside the backyard, across the state, beyond the sea, over another continent, there are millions and millions of orchestras like this in millions and millions of backyards, fields, bushes and woods. Together they light up every summer night, despite their smallness in size.

牋So....could I regard this post as one of your diaries recording an牋insects-themed trip? I am just wondering why there are so many 'sigh's about nature.
